So many thanks are going out to all the people that have supported and inspired me! And of course a special thanks to
:iconkaremelancholia:
for hosting the contest. It was a contest with a very important purpose - and in the end I'm simply glad that I could contribute something and help out Kare! :)

OK - so I am going to enter "Empathy" into the Solidarity Contest. As part of the rules of the contest I'm to include a link and a description about how the entry fits the theme "solidarity."

[link]

Solidarity is defined: "A union of interests, purposes, or sympathies among members of a group; fellowship of responsibilities and interests"
I believe that one of the things that makes us all human and brings us together is that we all share and experience the same emotions. I believe that no matter our social status, birth place, religion, age, gender, or whatever else - that it is impossible to look at a starving child on the brink of death and not be united in our sense of empathy and our resolve that things must change.

Richard,
I think this is the most astounding thing I have ever seen! I thought it was a photo on a white background until I looked at it in full view.
This is also one of the most moving, and sad images I have ever seen.

There is such a sense of loss and hopelessness in this. It reaches out to the viewer and stabs us in the heart with the awareness that the number of children around the world who die from poverty, malnutrition and starvation can only be estimated.

This is so compelling. I keep scrolling up to look at it, and I shake my head at the realism you have portrayed here.

One of the things I like about art, is that the artist can influence the viewer. The power to make people think, and to feel things that perhaps they would rather not feel, or think about, is a gift.

So often we look at a piece of work and simply say it is beautiful.

This image is stark, horrific, realistic, heart-breaking, and so dramatic. In the most strict definition, this piece of art is not, "beautiful".

What it is, however, is mute testimony to the selfishness and avarice of mankind.

We can not change the world without changing ourselves first.

Your wonderful piece of art is proof of your incredible talent.

How can you think that dA has run out of "Masters" of art. Looks to me like someone suggested one for a DD, and he got it!

Congratulations on creating an image that speaks the truth more eloquently than mere words ever could, and for the Daily Deviation.

I can find nothing negative to say about the creation of this image. For the purpose you intended, it is perfect.

It's funny, I came to see your home page for one reason and stayed for another. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/n/n…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Nod" />
