You're welcome rstovall! You know, I've been wanting to make more pieces like My Storybook Romance, but at home I don't have easy access to a computer that can handle the file sizes. I mostly work off of a laptop. I did do something kind of like it, in my gallery is a piece called Serene Lullaby, I was going for more of an illustration type artwork. Not at all up to par with My Storybook Romance, but similar. I would LOVE to get back to it, I'm trying a small project right now though with being so busy at home, I don't have a lot of time to devote to it. Someday I will though, thank you!
Well, personally, I would love to see more work like Storybook Romance! It's terrible that you don't have a more powerful computer to work with at home! Laptops aren't really made for graphics work unless you want to shell out tons of money for a Macbook.
So if you don't mind my asking, where in Cali are you from? I'm from Chico (North of Sacramento) but I'm currently living in Florida and going to school here. My girlfriend and our daughter are both still in Cali though. I miss it! I don't like the heat and humidity here in FL! And the people here are more closed off. I'm used to the friendly Northern Cali types!
Thanks, someday I will get more work out like Storybook Romance, I have had a few concepts I want to try out. I know its horrible! My husband keeps telling me I can use his laptop to do whatever I want, but I have to remind him that it won't hold the graphics work. Oh well, I have a computer, but its not set up for me right now. Its also in the garage. boo. I would go out there and do some work, but with a 1 year old, I don't get many moments to myself. double boo.
No I don't mind I'm actually in Delano, about 45 minutes north of Bakersfield. lol. I wish I was still living in San Jose, but you know, life always has changes for you. I know where Chico is, my aunt actually lives in Sacramento. Wow, if you don't mind me asking, how come you're gf and daughter didn't go with you? That has to be hard living away from them You know I've never been to Florida, yet, but I have family that lives there. I think by Jacksonville?? I love Cali, lol, I told my husband, unless we absolutely have to, I couldn't see myself living anywhere else. I'm a Cali girl at heart. lol.
Hey Alicia! So let me see if I understand this correctly: You HAVE a computer that is just sitting in the garage!!! This is the only obstacle that is keeping your fans from seeing more Storybook Romance?!
Ah yes - the one year old! My daughter will be 2 on the 28th of this month. It only gets worse in the next year! Her name is Rowan and we can't leave her alone for 30 seconds without risking her getting into something! I love her to death, but I can't admit that she is definitely a menace to cleanliness and organization! Lol! She's at that stage where everything is new and exciting; we try to let her get into a lot of stuff so long as it isn't harmful and it she doesn't do anything that will bring the house down on our heads. There is a picture of her at 18 months old on my page - you have to scroll down a bit though.
It is very hard being away from them! Probably one of the hardest things I've had to do. We talk and video chat everyday - but it is not the same by a long shot! And since she is in such a learning stage I constantly feel like I am missing out on so much. Originally they did move here with me. But my school is very odd in the way that it is scheduled, so between my school and Rowan my girlfriend (Nicole) wasn't going to be able to get a job or go to school herself. She was basically going to be stuck with a two year old for a couple years. By moving back to Cali she would have the help and support of her family to watch Ro and would be able to do more. She is currently studying to get her Real Estate license so she can work with her mom who is a broker in Northern Cali. It is tough, but it just wasn't fair for her to be sitting here in Florida with nothing to do and no way to pursue her ambitions. I will only be here for another year and a half and if I step back and look at the big picture that isn't really a very long time. That's what I tell myself, at least!
But anyway, I know where Bakersfield is, but I haven't heard of Delano. You're pretty far South! Probably 6-7 hours from Chico, at a minimum! Do you miss San Jose and Northern Cali?
LOL Yea, I suppose you're right! Mostly its because the door doesn't stay open to the garage, so I actually have to go outside. I wouldn't want her out in the garage, to much mess. You're daughter is so adorable! lol, Oh yes, the active toddler. Acie is very much the same. Right now she is beginning to get more mischievous now that she can walk. They are so fun at this age. They definitely know how to keep themselves entertained.
I bet, that's a big distance from eachother. Though you're right, that year and a half will fly by. I can't even believe where that last year went. lol. It takes a strong person to do what you're doing. Congrats. I wish your girlfriend luck with her license too, sure she will do great! You'll be with them soon enough What you going to school for?
lol, Yea not many people have heard of Delano, its just a small town. I've been here for about...4 years now? Yea its pretty far from Chico, reminds everyone just how big the state is. 6 hours and you're only halfway through the state. We make it to Sacramento in about 4 1/2 hours. I do miss San Jose sometimes. If I ever had the chance I would love to move back. My family is originally from the Fremont area, but we moved here when I was younger. When I graduated, I moved to San Jose to go to school and only recently moved back. Unfortunately, my husband isn't to much of a city person, lol, so I have to settle to live in the small town. Just as long as I don't have to move to the country. Me and the country don't mix.
Wow - your daughter is the first person I've heard of with the name Acie! I like it! Yes - they definitely know how to entertain themselves! Then they'll become teenagers and complain that they are SOOOOOOO bored!
Thanks for the kind words, Alicia! i really appreciate it! Nicole and I have a strong relationship so I'm not really worried about us not being able to make it through this time - I'm more just sad that this is the way life is sometimes.
My school career is an odd one! I spent 3 years as a mechatronic engineering major at Chico State - and than decided that I couldn't be an engineer for a career and be happy about it! Lol! I wanted something that had more of an artistic element to it so I transferred to Full Sail University here in Fl for Website Design and Development! It was kind of late in the game to make a change like that - but I think I will be a lot happier this way in the end.
What about you? Are you in school? Working? Full time mom?
I'm kind of in between on the country/city thing. I really liked Chico which was about 80k in population. It was kind of small - but not too small. Too small would be irritating - but too big is too! I'm living in Orlando right now and this town is WAY too big for my tastes! I can drive for a half hour on the freeway and still be in the city! If I did that in Chico I'd be in the next town over! Lol! Fremont huh! I know where that is! I'm originally from Stockton - but please don't hold that against me! I hate that town!
Was your husband country born and breed? Or does he just like it out in the middle of nowhere, lol!
Thanks nova! Ya - to slow the rings down more and still make them loop would mean that I would need to add A LOT more frames to the animation and the file size would get a lot bigger. Either that or I could slow down each frame very slow, in which case it would look jumpy!
Thanks for your opinion, however! I always appreciate the feedback!
No 3D used - I used After Effects. AE lets you position/rotate a layer in 3 dimensions - so basically I took a 2D image I created of the rings and rotated so that is was at an angle, set the blending mode to add, and than keyframed the rotation on the new z axis. I don't suppose that makes sense?!
