Thanks goes to Mogcaiz for the technical knowledge on how to get this animation onto dA
And to Kryso for requesting further images of the 3D weapons.

I wanted to go back and add some stuff here just to make it clear that this sword design does NOT belong to me - the design was done by Kit Rae - I did the 3D modeling and animation based on a picture of his.
I usually always model in Silo just because I LOVE the workflow and easy of modeling in that little program. But I use 3D Max for everything else. Shaders, animation, effects, etc. I don't really know anything about Blender. Good program? How long have you been using it?
It's essentially an open source program in addition of being very professional and we can make anything with it (even if it's hard sometimes) I've been using it for 5 years now
yes of course I did some short animations with it.
What's great about it is that you don't need other software to make an animation you have all what you need for voice managing, video editing and compositing
I've held this weapon - it is heavy, solid, and sharp as a surgical razor. The balance is amazing for the odd shaping of the blade, and it can be used gracefully, yet with such force ... an amazing weapon...
Your 3D recreation of this amazing weapon is just as amazing as the weapon itself - the textures are 'spot on' and you lighting gives it an amazing reality - the animation of it just really gave it the life that this weapon embodies.
(I used to work in a Sword / Knife shop - we carried Kit Rae and Gil Hibbon, as well as Marto/Martospa)
Thanks for the kind comment SL! I appreciate you taking a look! You know the funny thing is that since I did that model I have also seen the actual weapon in a shop! I haven't held it, though!
I took a look through your gallery and must say that you are a VERY prolific modeler! 370 deviations is a lot - it is even more when so many of them are 3D!!! Do you always work with Blender?
